Seasalter Road​

Following the sudden death of their mother, a pair of estranged siblings must revisit their family home and fractured relationship.

Directed by Will Kenning, and shot by the incredible talented Director of Photography Chris Dodds. Seasalter Road was made by an amazingly small team whilst still achieving an impressively high standard. Chris and Matthias crafted a beautiful naturalistic look for this film.

The Consequence

Cate Orlando-Hope, a right-wing talk radio host comes home to find her daughter missing, and a stranger in her living room. This short drama features Hopi Grace (Dune II, Time, Happy Valley) and Kammy Darweish in this dark tale about the harm caused by unrestrained opinion-based journalism.

Dramatic low key lighting was used throughout on this thriller shot by the brilliant Chris Dodds.

Hope & Her Two Daughters

2020 brought about a much-needed conversation concerning various forms of systemic issues. In the UK this materialised in the welfare of our BAME health workers and deportation of the Windrush generation. This experimental short film reflects on the revelations and racial atrocities of 2020. It ruminates about the pertinent work that needs to continue.

Hope and Her Two Daughters is directed by Tobore Dafiaga, DOP’d by Sean Mackey, with Matthias Djan as Gaffer.

Flashes

Having never lost a game of pool in over twenty years, a retired world 9-Ball Champion, Reuben “Ruby” Howard finally faces a worthy opponent. But the eerily persistent challenger confronts the legend’s love for the game, resulting in the ultimate sacrifice.

Directed by Mitya Lesnevskiy, world renowned Director of Photography Mikhail Krichman and Gaffer Matthias Djan, this film features many oners (single long take shots). Shot in a stunning bar location.

Exhale

Six individuals, differing in age, gender and locality, but united by a shared experience. Taking you into each of their sunken places, we delve beyond their surface level emotions and explore often suppressed thoughts and feelings in the face of ongoing micro-aggressive racism.

Exhale was a BBC New Creatives project directed by Adekemi Roluga, DOP’d by Sean Francis and Gaffer’d by Matthias Djan. The film was an official selection at the BFI Future Film Festival 2022.
